Not suitable if

Women at any dose. Not for use by women or children.
Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle crushed or broken tablets, because of potential risk to a male foetus; store the pack where it cannot be reached by others.
Men under 18 years of age.
Men planning a child within 12 months, or who answered 'Not sure' to the pregnancy planning question.
Patients with liver disease or abnormal LFT.
Patients who previously tried finasteride and stopped because of sexual side effects.
Patients with a history of depression (guide states: use with caution, discuss with doctor).

Safety information

Population restriction: Not for use by women or children.
Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle crushed or broken tablets, because of potential risk to a male foetus. The tablets are film coated, and normal handling of intact tablets does not carry this risk. If contact with a broken tablet occurs, wash the area with soap and water.
Commonly reported effects: Reduced sexual desire, difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection, reduced volume of ejaculate. Breast tenderness or enlargement. Skin rash. Mood changes including low mood.
Contact your physician promptly if you notice: Lumps, pain or discharge from the breast. Persistent low mood or thoughts of self-harm. Any allergic reaction including swelling of the lips, tongue or throat.
Other information: Finasteride lowers serum PSA. Tell any physician arranging a PSA test that you take it. Do not donate blood while taking this medicine and for the period your physician specifies after stopping.
